Captain Feather Finds His Treasure

This is just a little short story I wrote today for my intro to fiction class. We were given two prompts and had to write about it. Mine where... A Pirate. and Feels Frustrated. This is what I got out of those two short ideas.

Captain Feather Finds His Treasure 

      Captain Turk Feathers is a wealthy man. He runs a tight ship and has an exceptional crew. He’s been following an old crusty map for seven years with no luck. He dreams of silver, gold, riches, and fame. He and his crew have been out at sea for many months. They get stuck in a swirling storm and lose their barring. Food and water are running slim and everyone is worried that they may never see land again. In the still dead of night First Mate Harris yells out, “LAND HOE!” The whole crew rise and scramble to the bow. Soon after they anchor and row the four man life boat to shore. By this time it is light. Captain Feathers strides up the beach, swings his dreads to the side, hands on his hips, chest stuck out, and surveys the area.  As he explores the island he comes across a minuscule tribe. They welcome him and his crew and they make camp. A young woman comes up to Feathers and asks him why he has come. “In search of the treasure of course!” he exclaims. The two make eye contact. She bates her brown lashes and stares bluntly at the dusty ground. Feathers looks her up and down and his heart softens. “You are a wonderful treasure, my dear lady.”
