Back In The Swing Of Things

Year two of college at IUPUI is now in full swing! The apartment and the roomies have been great and I can't say anything but good things about my classes! It is a little different this year balancing work at the zoo and school work. As many of you already know I was fortunate enough to get a promotion in the gift shop. I'm no longer the "plush master" but the clueless sales lead. (A.K.A assistant manager). It has been a lot to take in/train for, in a very short amount of time. I'm getting to be more confident, but the pressure to get things right has been hard to get used to. But I've got to say... I love my job now more than ever!

There a few wedding updates and such, but I have created a wedding website on theknot.com. Everyone will be able to follow us on the latest developments, view our registry, and even RSVP right here from the computer. That link will be on it's way very soon.

Now, back to what this blog is really about... what I created it for... WRITING! I am taking a non-fiction creative writing class this semester with Robert Rebein. He's been great so far and I already feel like I'm learning a lot about this genre. He has talked a great deal about national publication and the real reason anyone writes in the first place... to be published! It's going to be a little bit different in comparison to last years writing because it is non-fiction instead of fiction.
We will be writing four major essays. The first one is a "place essay." I just have to write about any place I want. I have a lot of ideas written down in list form, but only one of them is really jumping out at me. I'll be posting bits and pieces of my essay, to get some feedback from you all, and then the final copy I'll share with you at the end.

I am also taking a wedding planning class this semester. Not just because I'm engaged but for my major. The class is all about the industry that is wedding planning and all of the elements that go into planning a great wedding. We've been learning about the different traditions that make up Christian, Jewish, and Mexican weddings. It's EXTREMELY interesting and will be a great tool for my own wedding and (if that's the path I take) other weddings and events I plan in the future. I will be posting elements of my final project here as well because it's just going to be that cool.

I am also really excited to learn about the business side of my major. I have an excellent business professor that shoots it to ya strait and is really passionate about what he does. I can not wait to learn all that I can this semester!
